Essential Chocolate Waffle Batter

You'll need: Sage No-Mess Waffle Maker
Ingredients
- 150 g dark chocolate (70% cocoa), chopped
- 6½ tbsp (100 g) unsalted butter, chopped
- 2 large eggs
- 375 ml milk
- 1½ tsp vanilla extract
- 300 g plain flour
- 150 g caster sugar
- 25 g cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp Coarse salt
To serve
- Double cream
- Strawberries
- Raspberries
- Chocolate sauce
Instructions
- Preheat waffle maker with dial up to number 4 on the LIGHT/DARK indicator dial.
- Preheat until the orange light flashes and the word HEATING disappears.
- Meanwhile, put the chocolate and butter in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave on High in 30 second bursts, stirring until melted and smooth. Set aside to cool slightly.
- Put the eggs, milk and vanilla in a medium bowl and whisk until well combined. Stir in cooled chocolate mixture.
- Combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt in a large bowl and make a well in the center.
- Whisk the egg mixture into the flour mixture to form a smooth batter.
- Pour ½ cup of batter into waffle maker and close the lid to cook.
- Repeat with the remaining batter.
- Serve topped with cream, strawberries, raspberries and chocolate sauce.
